Sony is looking at a £300 launch price for the PlayStation 4, making the new console considerably cheaper than the bank balance draining £425 gamers were asked to part with in order to secure a launch PS3, reports The Times.
“Industry sources and leaked internal documents suggest that Sony is considering pricing the new device at about £300, more than £100 cheaper than the starting cost of its predecessor, the PlayStation 3,” reads the article.
Reporter Murad Ahmed took to Twitter to offer additional insights, stating the article was based on “local UK pricing” but added that “not even Sony is sure of the price yet, they’ll wait for Xbox 720, then decide”.
Whilst we don’t expect to hear anything on pricing, Sony’s Wednesday night event is thought to be the big reveal for the PS4. Enjoy the show live with VideoGamer.com.
