Quantic Dream has registered the domain singularityps4.com, strongly hinting at the title for the studio’s first next generation PlayStation game.

The Heavy Rain studio has a history of revealing domain names, having previously registered both heavyrainps3.com and beyondps3.com – in line with Sony Computer Entertainment’s preference for domains to feature the game name followed by platform.

The name Singularity is also rather interesting, given that Quantic Dream founder David Cage has admitted the impressive Kara tech demo was strongly influenced by Ray Kurzweil’s recent sci-fi book The Singularity is Near, which examines themes of man and machine. Cage hasn’t ruled out expanding the Kara demo into a full game.

Don’t expect the game to be released under the title Singularity, however, with Activision’s failed FPS from 2010 holding the same name – a trademark held by the publisher. A subtitle would be necessary in order to use the Singularity title.

And it’s also interesting to note that the domain features “PS4” as the console name, not the heavily rumoured Orbis, which always sounded like a codename anyway.
