PS Plus Essential Games for October 2022

Hot Wheels Unleashed

An excellent racer from last year, Hot Wheels Unleashed takes the famous toy car brand and makes for some solid oversized racing action.

You get to race hundreds of the collectible cars in large scale environments including a Skate Park, a College Campus and more. Then you can make your own courses in the Track Editor, complete with loops, ramps and more.

Injustice 2

The DC beat-em-up from Mortal Kombat creators NetherRealm Studios isn’t just great for comics fans. Their experience means you get a solid beat-em-up with epic scale battles, and a brilliant story mode to boot.

Naturally there’s local and online multiplayer too – and absolutely oodles of customisation as you unlock new costumes based across the DC universe’s many iterations. One for Super-nuts and fighting fans alike.

Superhot

Taking place in a virtual world, Superhot is a unique FPS where time only moves when you do. That means some lateral thinking is required – because you’re heavily outnumbered and outgunned.

You’ll have to grab weapons from fallen enemies, skilfully dodge bullets and try and survive – then you get to see a cool replay of all you did at the end.

Members of the Essential tier ate well last month, getting Need for Speed Heat, TOEM and Granblue: Fantasy Versus.

Meanwhile, here’s what we hoped we’d get this month.

PS Plus Essential Game Predictions for October 2022

Prediction 1 – The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes

A horror game for the season of ghouls and ghosts seems like a no brainer. And Supermassive Games have had a good run at knocking their Dark Pictures series of games out on a yearly basis around this time.

In fact, they have a new entry this year – The Devil in Me – so we think it’d be appropriate to offer up last year’s House of Ashes for PS Plus subscribers.

Not only would it set up fans for this year’s entry – but it’d be a great get to sit around the telly with friends and enjoy a few scares.

On a similar train of thought, we’d also quite like to see (from the same developers, but not part of the Dark Pictures Anthology) The Quarry too.

However, as that only came out this year – if it does feature on PS Plus, we reckon it’s more likely to hit the Extra or Premium tiers.

Prediction 2: Resident Evil 2 Remake

Again with the horror slant, but this has the potential of an easy win for Sony. The recent Resident Evil remakes were excellently done, bringing the 90s survival horror classics a modern makeover.

They also changed plenty of things up too of course, and for our money Resident Evil 2 Remake was the most successful at this endeavour so far.

Given the upcoming Winter’s Expansion DLC for Resident Evil Village, and the forthcoming Resident Evil 4 remake in March – now seems like a great time to give fans the best Resident Evil remake yet on PS Plus.

Essential Wildcard Predication: Batman Arkham Collection

Gotham Knights is another game releasing in October – a DC game which kicks off with the death of Batman. So for those pining for a more direct bat-fix, we’ll suggest the Batman Arkham Collection.

It’s a collection of three fantastic games starring the Caped Crusader – each one expanding Gotham City more than the last. Granted, Arkham Knight (the most recent) has been on PS Plus before, but it’d be nice to see the collection get added to the list of Essential offerings.

The PS Plus October offerings will go live on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. We’re expecting to get confirmation on what those games will be about a week before – we’ll keep updating this hub as we learn more.
