The PlayStation Plus December Essential games are now available to claim, and they are decent offerings thanks to the inclusion of It Takes Two as well as Temtem and Aliens. While the Essential selection is available to grab right now, the reveal date for the PS Plus December 2024 Extra and Premium games is imminent. Sony has confirmed some new classic additions for the Premium tier, meanwhile, there is an assortment of excellent games leaving Extra.
It has been a strong year of video game releases, and the final month of 2024 has been excellent so far. Marvel Rivals is now available to play on PS5, and there has been the early access release of Path of Exile 2. Microsoft loyalists are able to currently enjoy Indiana Jones, but the good news is that PlayStation players don’t have to wait too long for the Great Circle to join PS5.
All of the above new releases are excellent, and hopefully Sony will reveal some great games for PS Plus Extra and Premium in December 2024. Sony have already confirmed three classics, and they arrive today.
PS Plus Extra and Premium December 2024 games reveal date
The reveal date for the PS Plus Extra and Premium December 2024 games is December 11th . Sony always reveals the Extra and Premium games on a Wednesday one week after the release of the Essentials. The December 2024 Essentials were given away on December 3rd, hence the impending announcement for tomorrow.
After the curtain has been pulled aside, the games should come out to play on December 17th. In regard to the January 2025 Essentials, they are expected to be identified on January 1st with an official launch confirmed for January 7th.
To avoid missing out, make sure to claim the current monthly games before they expire. It Takes Two is an excellent co-operative experience that tells an original story with unique gameplay, meanwhile, Aliens Dark Descent is a terrifying real-time combat strategy game starring the Colonial Marines. Last but not least, Temtem is a charming experience similar to Pokémon.
Confirmed PS Plus Premium December 2024 games
On the PlayStation Blog post revealing the PS Plus December 2024 Essential giveaways, Sony confirmed that the following PS2 classics are set to join Premium:
- Sly 2: Band of Thieves
- Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
- Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
These three games will become available on December 10th. Seeing as they are PS2 classics, you should be able to purchase them from the PSN store similar to Tomb Raider Legend.

Some of the upcoming departures are a real shame as they’re great experiences. Metal Hellsinger is a phenomenal rhythm adventure romp through hell, Judgement is an excellent detective game in the mold of the Yakuza series, and Dead Island is zombie-killing fun.
