PlayStation fans have already begun making ridiculous Project Q mock-ups, which says it all about recent reactions to the handheld’s reveal.

The PlayStation Project Q, as it’s being referred to as for now, is gearing up for a launch later this year. However, it doesn’t look like many people are really interested in buying the console, but rather creating inventive mock-ups that ridicule the curious design.

It looks like a PS5 controller hacked in half, with a tablet inserted in the middle, and the slightly absurd design has prompted fans across the world to create their own mock-ups of the device. Here are a few of our favourites:

‘First looks’ at Project Q

Posted by u/sinhasatyam in /r/playstation on Reddit, this particular post was absolutely sledgehammered by the community, not for the poor construction or bedsheet background, but for the incredibly dirty tablet placed on top.

Our next favourite was posted by /u/Aoskkun, who expertly taped two Nintendo Switch controllers to their TV. You can read about our thoughts on the Project Q vs Nintendo Switch here.

Then, we take to @Xbox_Series_XS on Twitter, who jokingly thanked “PlayStation for sending [them] the Q handheld for testing.”

The gaming community have turned PlayStation’s upcoming release into a laughing stock, and comparisons to the Wii-U and PSP have not gone unnnoticed.

Despite Jim Ryan once claiming that PlayStation are no longer in the “business” of creating handheld gaming consoles, they’ve reappeared with what could potentially be one of the most ridiculed consoles in recent years.
