UPDATE: Vice says that it too has heard that Sony will be revealing PlayStation Neo in New York on September 7. “One source, who chose to remain anonymous, described the upcoming event as a “technical showcase”,” the site said.
ORIGINAL STORY: Sony will reveal PlayStation 4 Neo during a special event being held in New York on Wednesday, September 7, according to a report by French outlet Gameblog.
A rough translation of Gameblog’s report says that “while all indications pointed to an announcement of the PS4 Neo at the Tokyo Game Show in September, our sources tell us an announcement on 7 September in New York.”
“Our sources are clear: Sony [is] planning an event next Wednesday, September 7 in New York. An event that we mentioned large enough to house a major announcement: the PS4 Neo.”
The site also speculates that Nintendo NX could be unveiled one week later, during the week of September 12. Tokyo Game Show begins later that week on September 15.
Sony has yet to announce when PlayStation Neo will be revealed or when it’s due to go on sale, but has previously confirmed that it is in development. The console is a “high end” version of the current PS4, expected to include an improved GPU and CPU to offer enhanced visuals.
