According to a report on mobile news portal Ananova, a 13-year-old boy in Italy was rushed to hospital by his father fearing something was seriously wrong.

The teenager couldn’t speak and didn’t appear to understand anything that was going on around him. The doctors thought he was suffering from a stroke or a severe brain disorder, and it wasn’t until they discovered he’d just finished a lengthy session on his PlayStation that a more accurate diagnosis was given.

Local politician Antonio Buccoliero said: “They eventually managed to take care of him once they understood that this was a strange kind of mental detachment connected to his PlayStation.”

The boy later told his father to get rid of his PlayStation, telling press: “If I even think about it I want to throw up.”
