Blizzard is introducing the new Overwatch 2 Starwatch game mode today as part of the lead up to the FPS entry’s fourth season. This intergalactic match offering pits two teams of four against each other as they attempt to accomplish their own objectives.

With the Overwatch 2 Season 4 release date practically here, this latest addition into the popular co-op shooter will surely entice both new and veteran players alike. Much like the game’s casual and competitive match types, Starwatch: Galactic Rescue similarly features both an attacking and a defending team.

For those that are planning on jumping in and joining the fight, keep in mind that you’ll be able to choose from three factions once you queue up. This includes the Watchers, the Infinite Empire, or as a Mercenary if you have no particular affinity towards the prior two choices. The latter option is naturally the quickest way to get into a game since it will immediately place you in an empty lobby slot.

The Infinite Empire are considered the defenders in this particular game mode as “this team has special artillery” available throughout the map that will attack enemies. Fortunately, Watchers will have some help of their own as Bonebreaker Doomfist will be assisting you in infiltrating the facility to rescue 3CH-0, who is portrayed by none other than Echo.

You’ll also be able to attempt several cosmic event challenges, which will reward you with various items and cosmetics once completed. This includes a brand-new Epic Asteroid skin for Wrecking Ball as well as 50,000 XP, the latter of which can help you in completing your premium Battle Pass to unlock the “Mythic skin for Galactic Emperor Sigma.”

According to Blizzard’s official announcement, this is only a limited-time mode, which means you’ll only be able to access it from May 9 to May 22. With this in mind, we suggest playing it as much as you can while it’s still available or you might just miss out on some of the unique themed rewards that it offers.
