The OUYA Android console has received more than double its $950,000 target and stands at $2,236,299 in just one day.

The Tegra 3 powered console is targeting a March 2013 release date.

“Do you realize what you’ve done? You proved consoles aren’t dead. You shocked the world. And us!” wrote OUYA’s Julie Uhrman.

“We are blown away by your support. With your help, we just raised $2 million. And it’s only the first day.

“Now we want to blow you away. The biggest thing for us right now: we are working on our stretch goals, what we can do if we raise more money. It might take us a few days to figure that out, and we want your help.”

If you have any idea what the OUYA team can do with its extra funding send an email to [email protected]. For game suggestions head over to the OUYA survey.

Remember you can secure yourself a OUYA console by pledging $99 (plus $20 shipping if you’re in the UK). The Kickstarter closes August 9.
