OnLive has signed a partnership deal with Kickstarter-funded Android console Ouya, the firm has announced.

The new deal will let users stream AAA games directly to their console when Ouya launches next March.

“When OnLive first heard about Ouya, we were excited to see console gaming becoming more available and open,” said OnLive’s General Manager, Bruce Grove.

“Like Ouya, we came to gaming with a new vision for making top-quality gaming accessible to more people, and we continue to look for ways to expand on that vision. Ouya is rethinking the console business, making waves by using standard technology to make gaming for your living room accessible, affordable and more innovative than ever. In OnLive’s case, we pioneered a groundbreaking, cloud-based system that instantly delivers games to any device on demand.

“We are pleased to announce that OnLive will be available on Ouya at launch, extending and building on our commitment to make the best games available to everyone, everywhere.”

OnLive is a cloud-based service that lets users stream full games and game trials to any PC or Mac. The service also supports smartphones and tablets.

Members can play up to 30 minutes of a game for free, before buying full access to the title through the service.

Ouya has been making waves across the industry since it was listed on Kickstarter earlier this month. The hardware was labelled “a beautiful piece of industrial design” by Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner and has earned praise from industry moguls Markus ‘Notch’ Persson and Brian Fargo.

The console, which also acts as an Android dev kit, has secured over $5.5m dollars in funding since its announcement.
