Following the announcement of the Japanese release of Okami HD, Capcom has now confirmed that it’ll be coming to Europe and North America on December 12. Unlike Japan, which will only have a physical release for the PlayStation 4 and digital versions for the Xbox One and PC, Okami HD will be receiving physical and digital releases in the West. Good stuff.

This upgraded version of Okami HD will receive a 4K resolution boost on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, resulting in even more splendid visuals and bursts of colour. Players can also change the aspect ratio to 4:3, just like the original PS2 game. The loading screen mini-games that used to be feature on the PS2 original (before being removed from the Wii and PS3 ports) will finally make a return, with players able to earn bonus demon fangs that they can trade for in-game items.

The Hideki Kamiya designed title received high praise on its original PS2 release in 2006. Okami was later ported to the Nintendo Wii in 2008, before receiving a visual enhancement with an HD release on PS3 in 2012.

In Okami HD, players take on the role of mythical Japanese Sun goddess, Amaterasu, as she sets off on an adventure to cast aside the curse of the eight-headed demon Orochi. Utilising the power of a celestial paintbrush, Amaterasu dispatches enemies in a swathe of paint, bringing back colour to the land of Nippon.

Okami HD is out on December 12 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
