Oculus Rift’s Touch, the promised VR controller, will launch December 6 priced $199, which will probably equate to about £1000 if the Pound continues to take a beating.

Pre-orders will open on October 10, with priority given to those who purchased a Rift through Oculus.com.

For your $199 you get the two controllers, an additional sensor, a connector for Rock Band VR and two games: VR Sports Challenge and Insomniac’s The Unspoken.

Over 35 games will support Touch at launch. Check out some of what’s coming in the trailer below.

Whilst there’s no doubt the Touch controller looks impressive, its $199 price means the complete Oculus Rift experience is now $798, pretty much the same price you’d be paying for the HTC Vive. Though, if you’ve already invested in Oculus Rift it seems the Touch will be an essential purchase.

Furthermore, a room-scale VR option is also available by placing a third sensor into your game space. These extra sensors will set you back $79.

There’s good reason to stick with Rift, with the firm announcing a commitment to spend $250 million more to “jumpstart the VR content ecosystem”. Three upcoming Oculus Rift Touch titles include Robo Recall from Epic Games, Arktika.1 from 4A Games and Lone Echo from Ready at Dawn. All three are looking great, as you can see in the trailers below.

Robo Recall from Epic Games — Take down waves of robots gone rogue in this FPS with creative combat tactics.

Arktika.1 from 4A Games — Battle for survival in this shooter set in a frozen dystopian future.

Lone Echo from Ready at Dawn — A high-fidelity, pulse-pounding space saga.
