Nintendo has confirmed that its online subscription service Nintendo Switch Online can now boast a user count of more than ten million subscribers.

The information came from a Q&A at the company's 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, where Director and President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed the figure in a question on the service, saying: 'The number of subscribers for Nintendo Switch Online has increased steadily since the service was launched last September, and it has now surpassed 10 million accounts.'

Nintendo has been circling around the ten million number since April, and with the launch of Super Mario Maker 2 a couple of weeks ago, it shows no signs of slowing down yet. On calls to bring further backwards compatibility titles to the service, which currently offers a selection of NES Games every month on top of online multiplayer, Furukawa sadly didn't confirm anything, but did say ' We are very aware that many of our consumers have been asking for a way to play older titles like this.'
