Nintendo’s upcoming NX console is looking “really great”, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said, and will help bring “a lot more casual players back to the industry”.

Speaking during Ubisoft’s latest earnings call last night, Guillemot said: “On the NX, what we are seeing is really great. So we think having a new machine coming is going to help the industry to continue to grow and to take a lot more casual players back to the industry.”

Guillemot’s comments follow one month after EMEA boss Alain Corre said that he expected the NX to “recapture” Wii players who skipped Wii U, praising Nintendo for their approach in “addressing the family market in a very different way.

The console has long been rumoured to consist of two parts: a portable handheld unit and a home console unit, although further details won’t be revealed until later in the year. Ubisoft has already announced one game for the console, however – Just Dance 2017 – which is expected to be available at launch next year.

Nintendo NX goes on sale in March 2017.
