Everyone’s favourite moustachioed plumber could be making their way to the big screen in a new animated adventure, if recent reports are to be believed.

According to the Wall Street Journal Nintendo is in talks with Illumination Entertainment, the arm of Universal Pictures responsible for the Despicable Me and Minions series, to make an animated movie based on the plumber in what’s being called ‘one of the highest profile licensing deals by a Hollywood studio in years.’

There’s not much in the way of further details at this point other than that good ol’ Shigeru Miyamoto is likely to join as a producer, but it’s certainly one to keep an eye on. Heck, Mario even made the Rabbids tolerable, so putting him in the same studio with those Minions might be a shrewd move.Â
