The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be the biggest console launch in history with Nintendo predicting the console’s launch period to match the first year of its predecessor.

After previously underestimating demand for the console due to its high asking price, Nintendo is now ramping up production to ensure it can supply enough units to satiate customers.

Via a report by Bloomberg, Nintendo has partnered with Samsung to rapidly increase production of the new console. In a new report, the outlet explains that Samsung and Nintendo are speeding up production of the custom Nvidia T239 SoC for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The outlet reports that the production partnership aims to manufacture and sell 20 million Nintendo Switch 2 units by March 2026. Additionally, the partnership should allow both parties to scale production to an even higher amount should demand surprisingly increase.

The Samsung partnership is taking priority over Nintendo’s prior agreements with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co with a likely cause being the major tariffs still affecting Taiwan. Samsung already creates other components for the Nintendo Switch 2 including its 120Hz VRR LCD screen, RAM chips and more.

Nintendo’s upcoming handheld console hybrid device also uses Samsung’s largely abandoned 8-nanometer chip fabrication process for cheaper production which analysts claim will allow Nintendo to create the console at an even cheaper price. Future versions of the Nintendo Switch 2 will likely opt for a smaller SoC size which will result in a larger battery life.

Samsung will likely remain a major partner for the new Nintendo console across the entire generation due to this partnership.
