The Japanese magazine reports that Ninja Gaiden Sigma is currently in development for the PlayStation 3. Apparently players will be able to take control of Rachel, but it’s not clear if this is in addition or instead of Ryu Hayabusa.
Also unclear is whether Ninja Gaiden Sigma is an all new game in the series or simply a polished version of the Xbox game. The latter would appear more likely given the recent praise series creator Tomonobu Itagaki has been lavishing the Xbox 360 with. Only a few weeks ago, Itagaki told IGN that Team Ninja is “going to continue bringing out the newest releases on the Xbox platform before they’re on other systems.“
Should Ninja Gaiden Sigma be an all-new next-gen game, then Itagaki has performed a remarkably fast u-turn.
