Marvel Rivals Season 2 thrilled fans with a plethora of new content, including Emma Frost’s introduction to the roster and the vivid Hellfire Gala event, which included magnificent new skins. The season brought a new map, revised ranked systems, and significant hero balancing changes, shaking up the meta with bonuses for Rocket Raccoon and nerfs for Doctor Strange and Magneto.
As Season 2 proceeds, anticipation grows for the mid-season 2.5 patch, which will be released on May 30, 2025. This update promises to amp up the excitement by introducing Ultron as a playable support villain with a unique kit to change team dynamics. Arakko, a new Convoy mode map inspired by X-Men legend, will present players with deep woodlands and strategic pathways.
However, leaks of even bigger changes are circulating, with sources indicating that the upcoming update may feature a new villain and a mechanic nobody saw coming.
Marvel Rivals leaks reveal Galactus is coming with possible role queue in next update
Marvel Rivals dataminers on X are now hinting towards “something big” that will arrive with the next major content update that NetEase will deploy with the upcoming Season 2.5. While Ultron and Arakko are already confirmed to be the two highlights of the update, players believe a new villain is emerging in the shadows as well.
That’s right—a villain who is apparently the father of the game’s announcer, Galacta, the destroyer of worlds, Galactus. This leak comes forth since the new MCU film Fantastic Four: First Steps is slated to release in July 2025 and will feature the celestial being as the main antagonist.
Players are speculating that the arrival of Galactus will also bring the leaked PvE mode, where users would band together to battle Galactus, pretty much how they did it in Fortnite back in Chapter 2 days. But that’s not all—a large group of users also believe that NetEase may finally introduce a Role Queue in Rivals to avoid instances where throwers and smurfs insta-lock on certain heroes just to make their team lose.
While the devs have clearly marked their intention not to introduce a role lock feature and have no plans of doing so in the future, this could be a curveball, given player reception has been demanding for such a mechanic to balance competitive lobbies.
