Konami has announced the autumn 2008 release of Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, exclusively for Nintendo DS. Developed by legendary Castlevania producer Koji “Iga” Igarashi, the game will feature the all-new Glyph attack system, enabling players to use special attack combinations on their quest to defeat Dracula and his horde.

Players take on the role of a member of the Ecclesia, an organisation that has sworn to defeat the evil forces of Dracula. Using the Glyph system players will be able to unleash more than 100 different combinations to battle Dracula and his hordes across 20 explorable areas. New to the series is the ability to explore outside of Dracula’s castle, including an ocean and a forest.

Support for Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will enable players to compete head-to-head and trade items and equipment they have found while exploring the game’s environments. Konami is also promising multiple endings depending on how the adventure is played.

“We fully expect Order of Ecclesia to ignite the fan base once again as it combines the classic Castlevania gameplay with an all-new combat system and outdoor environments,” said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is scheduled for release in North America exclusively for Nintendo DS this autumn. A European release is likely to follow at a later date.
