Summer Games Fest is here and many publishers are set to showcase what players can expect over the coming months and year. These include everything from smaller indie titles to major AAA releases. One of the publishers showcasing their latest titles is Amazon Games and its flagship MMORPG New World.
Amazon has announced that New World is finally coming to console with the next major content update, this new version will be titled “New World Aeternum.” Previously, New World was only available on PC since it launched in September 2021. After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that New World Aeternum will be launching on October 15th, 2024, on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
During the three years since New World was first released, it has drastically changed and expanded, with the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion adding much-needed quality-of-life changes such as Mounts. New World Aeternum will include all of the content released so far, as well as brand-new content that will include the first-ever large-scale PvP Zone, 10-player raids, end-game solo trials, an upgraded leveling system, brand-new character archetypes, revamped story and dialogue system, cinematics and more.
But, it is not just PS5 and Xbox Series X players that will be diving into this new content as New World Aeternum is also coming to PC, and the good news is that it is free for existing players who already own the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion. For new players, the game will cost $59.99 for the Standard Edition, and $79.99 for the Deluxe Edition. Console players will also be required to subscribe to either PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core to play the game because it is an MMORPG. The Deluxe Edition includes a Bear mount and armor skin so players can traverse Aeternum with speed and style. Console players who pre-order the game will receive the Azoth Stalker wolf mount as a bonus, while PC players who own the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion will receive this on October 15th if they log into the game between June 7th and October 14th.
With New World being three years old, it is understandable that console players may feel intimidated to jump into an existing MMO, but new players will be able to access specific new player servers so they can enjoy the game as intended without being surrounded by max-level players. Once you have gotten to grips with the game, you can jump into other servers to play with existing players as New World can be played both solo and co-op, along with taking part in optional PvP battles with your faction.
Speaking about the upcoming New World Aertenum update, Amazon Games’ Vice President Christoph Hatmann said: “Listening to player feedback is fundamental to how we make games, and we know New World: Aeternum delivers on the promise of a fresh and compelling New World experience that players can enjoy together across platforms.”
