New Unreal Tournament announced

Unreal Tournament’s yearly outing has been revealed by a US magazine this week, promising a game that focuses on gameplay over graphics. Hmm. Just don’t mess with our killing sprees, ok?

The game will be most familiar to players of Unreal Tournament 2004, featuring vehicles such as the Goliath tank and Scorpion buggy. There will also be a choice of eleven weapons, which is bound to include most of the old favourites and hopefully a few surprises. Game types will include Capture the Flag, Deathmatch and Onslaught, the results of which will be included into a global ranking system, similar to Xbox Live.

The biggest new edition, however, is the Conquest mode: an eight-team battle played out over enormous maps. How this mode will work exactly isn’t clear, though it’s our hope that some of these battles may last for days with players able to dip in and out. Now the big question for Epic is the name… let me think…
