Details about a new Ubisoft multiplayer shooter have surfaced, and this comes months after the game was leaked earlier this year as a battle royale heavily inspired by EA’s Apex Legends. The new details come courtesy of reliable Rainbow Six leaker, Shiiny77, and they report that the game is a competitive first-person multiplayer shooter set in an “intense sci-fi universe”.
It’s also “large scaled” and has “full crossplay”. In addition to these details, screenshots have been posted by 6leaksgg. They corroborate Shiiny77’s claim that the game’s codename is Project Scout and it is made using Unreal Engine 5.
The screenshots show what appears to be concept art as well as in-development first-person gameplay that shows the possible UI. Shiiny77 also says that they have seen gameplay, and, worryingly, they’ve said the gameplay is “something” and “I don’t think people will like it”.
Earlier this year, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reported about Project Scout. Henderson reported that the game is a new battle royale heavily inspired by Apex Legends, to the point where it features “very similar” characters including a spin on Pathfinder, Wraith, Lifeline, and others from EA’s shooter.
It’s possible this game might be announced at The Game Awards on December 11th, but we’ll just have to wait and see. For many it will be a concern as Ubisoft’s other recent multiplayer shooter, XDefiant, was shut down in December 2024. This was very bad as the game had only released in May 2024, and XDefiant devs responded to the shutdown saying they “threw everything and the kitchen sink” into its final update.
