Sega has polished off its E3 trailer for Team Sonic Racing, which sees the spikey speedster and chums burning rubber to the beat of Crush 40 around Wisp Circuit.

Why does Sonic have a car, you might ask? Well, he'd be too fast and have an grossly unfair advantage otherwise, innit?

Team Sonic Racing is developed by Sumo Digital, the same studio behind the frankly brilliant Sonic & All-Stars Racing franchise. Unlike previous games however, this title does not dip its toes into the wider pool of Sega favourites, focusing entirely on the Sonic universe.

In other words, don't expect to see Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue ramming you off the track with his trusty forklift.

Team Sonic Racing is due out on PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One this winter. Have a butcher's at the trailer below.
