It’s been over a month since the Helldivers 2 community managed to rid Meridia of its Terminid supercolony using Dark Fluid, shockingly turning the once-infested planet into a black hole. Naturally, players immediately expected the upcoming enemy faction, the Illuminate, to come swarming out of the gaping galactic void as soon as it appeared. But until now, we’ve yet to see neither hide nor hair of this extraterrestrial species, placing their alleged arrival into question.
However, based on details provided by known leaker Tier5NPC, it should only be a matter of time before they appear. According to their recent post, the Illuminate will reportedly be using plasma-based weapons to terrorize Helldivers 2 squads once they arrive. This includes plasma bolt projectiles that might be able to penetrate even the thickest of armor. These deadly aliens can also apparently make use of molten plasma that can immediately set things on fire, a nightmare for bugs and Super Earth citizens alike.
But like any leak, you will need to take this information with a heap of salt until Arrowhead Game Studios confirms it. After all, it could still end up changing from now until its eventual launch (maybe towards the end of the year). Luckily, with the Helldivers 2 dev team’s “summer break” coming to an end soon, you hopefully won’t have to wait long for more tidbits on the dreaded (but much-needed) arrival of the Illuminate.
