A new Guitar Hero game is in development for release this year, Kotaku reports.
The game will reportedly take a “more realistic” approach than its cartoonish predecessors, with crowds and performers that “look more in-line with real life”.
New guitar peripherals are also reportedly to be in development, with the game expected to be announced at E3 and release on PS4 and Xbox One by the end of the year.
Kotaku’s report follows shortly after comments from industry analyst Michael Pachter, who said earlier this month that he expects Activision to announce a new IP at E3. Pachter’s report, however, suggested that the game would not release until 2016.
It also follows a few months after a report on PSU, which echoed Kotaku’s comments on a more realistic approach.
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick announced earlier this month that the publisher would be expanding its franchise portfolio to “10 blockbusters” in 2015, double that of the beginning of 2014.
A new Rock Band game from competitor Harmonix is also rumoured to be in development, with a reveal possibly due at next week’s PAX East.
