Warner Bros is reportedly working on a new Batman game based on The Penguin. Following the release of The Batman in 2022, the movie studio reportedly greenlit a video game based on the villain as a tie-in for the upcoming HBO show.

Warner Bros’ Penguin game

While Warner Bros saw a recent failure with the release of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, the media enterprise isn’t giving up on gaming. Alongside games set in the new DC movie universe, titles like Batman: Arkham Shadow are still in development.

In a report by Puck, it’s claimed that new Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav is gunning hard for video games based on the studio’s IP. While Zaslav was reportedly advised to “offload games”, the CEO has doubled down on new titles.

Surprisingly, one of these games is said to be a game based on the new Penguin HBO show, a spin-off of 2022’s The Batman. While details are scarce, the game will presumably focus on the villainous Oswald Cobblepot as he builds his criminal enterprise.

Unfortunately, the report didn’t reveal what developer is working on the new Batman game or when the title will release. However, it’s revealed that WB aims to have its various divisions collaborating “more closely on properties” as they release.

While Harry Potter game Hogwarts Legacy was a massive success for Warner Bros, the colossal failure of Suicide Squad may be detrimental to Zaslav’s original gaming plans. At the time of writing, Warner Bros has not announced plans to scale back its gaming output.

Upcoming Warner Bros games

Alongside the aforementioned Batman: Arkham Shadow, Warner Bros does have multiple video games currently in development. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor developer Monolith is working on a Wonder Woman game complete with the studio’s Nemesis system. Furthermore, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions releases just next month.

While not confirmed, it seems obvious that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy would also be in development. After fan backlash over the lack of DLC expansions, a return to the Wizarding World would be a clear money-maker for the studio.
