Gamers who love to stream on Twitch can now have their Baldur’s Gate 3 run razed by loving viewers thanks to a new mod. After modders brought functional Pokeballs and first-person gameplay to Larian’s RPG, one talented modder has added Twitch chat functionality to the game for gits and shiggles.

Twitch integration comes to Baldur’s Gate 3

Created by modder LeksColman, the new Twitch Points Cast mod adds Twitch chat integration to the massive RPG. With the mod, viewers can use their acquired Channel Points to help or, more likely, hinder their favourite streamer.

Available in an early alpha form at the time of writing, the new mod allows viewers to apply both official and modded statuses to a streamer’s characters or cast spells. A redeemed status or spell applied to a character will be triggered after the character moves, attacks or activates a rare event.

Modder LeksColman explained that the mod is made in such a way that streamers are able to configure available spells and status effects on the fly without restarting the game or stream. This means that annoying statuses or spammed spells can be nerfed without interrupting a stream.

The setup is a pain

While the mod is easy to use once set up, it is a bit of a pain to set up at the start. While the mosser explains that they wanted to make the mod “super convenient and simple”, the current version of the mod does require the use of third-party tools.

For any streamer wanting to use the Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitch integration mod, you’ll have to make use of SAMMI and NodeJS to run JavaScript code and tie it into the Twitch service. However, once it’s set up, the mod offers a brand-new way to experience one of the best RPGs ever made. Now, you’ll just have to hope your Twitch viewers aren’t huge meanies.
