If you thought Monster Hunter Wilds wasn’t hard enough on the game’s normal difficulty, one modder has already got you covered. While some modders are improving image quality or adding in speedrunning tools, one modder has decided to craft a new level of difficulty for Capcom’s action game.
Increase Monster Hunter Wilds difficulty
Created by modder Rex Zakel, the “Monster Difficulty Plus” mod is described as a “Vanilla+ Difficulty Mod” for the latest game in the series. Not designed for veterans, this mod is designed to be for standard and new players that believe the base game difficulty is too easy.
With this in mind, the new mod increases monster health and damage across the board to make standard hunts more of a challenge. Additionally part breaks, areas of the monster bodies that break off over time, are also harder to pull off.
“Monster health increased by 30%, wounds need 60% more damage to create, most monsters are now 15% faster while enraged, and damage has been increased by around 25% for most monsters,” the modder wrote on Nexus Mods
Monsters in general are a lot faster with this mod, allowing them to escape easier and making chases longer overall. This change has been well received as it “extends fights by a bit longer which goes a long way as we can enjoy the combat for longer”.
The mod is also completely playable in multiplayer with other players, but both players need the mod installed. If one player doesn’t have the mod installed on their version of Monster Hunter Wilds, “you will see their monster skipping around as your local monster is faster than the host monster”.
