Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter XX is arriving in the US and Europe this summer as Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for Nintendo Switch.

Launching as a digital download and physical release, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate allows players to go on the hunt for giant beasties as a group of up to three others via local wireless and online multiplayer. Thanks to Ninty's hybrid console, you can enjoy your monster-slaying shenanigans on the go or on the big screen.

Ultimate is apparently cramming in the 'largest' roster of unique creatures to date, and the core loop of hunting down monsters, finishing quests, and nabbing precious loot is very much at the forefront of the action.

Capcom is also promising to combine the series' classic gameplay with a couple of new additions. As well as offering fresh areas to explore and all-new creatures to battle, Ultimate brings a new quest level known as G rank, where you'll square off against even more powerful versions of familiar enemies.

Meanwhile, newcomers can take advantage of the new Hunter Arts, which are super-powerful techniques that can be activated by hitting the touch screen. Among the six Hunter Styles includes a new Brave and Alchemy Style, and the game also allows you to transfer your data from the previous Monster Hunter Generations to continue your quest.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is due out for Switch on August 28.
