Monolith Soft, the creator behind the Xenoblade series, has revealed in a post on its Japanese website (via GI.biz) that it’s staffing up for a new Legend of Zelda project.

The studio has previously contributed to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was released for the Nintendo Switch as a launch title back in March 2017. Monolith is hiring for a number of positions, including programmers, designers, and technical artists.

Right now it’s unknown if the new title is a direct follow-up to Breath of the Wild, although it wouldn’t be surprising — the open world adventure title was a huge success, moving over 12 million copies worldwide.

Breath of the Wild was utterly brilliant, so personally I'd be thrilled to see the series embrace its open-world design with a future instalment. Interestingly, Nintendo said the game isn't being placed on the series' timeline.

In Japan, Breath of the Wild also chalked up a huge milestone by beating sales of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
