Terminal is one of a number of classic levels rumoured to be returning in Modern Warfare 2 – if a recent leak is anything to go by.

The much-loved airport level, famous for No Russian, could be set for upgraded visuals along with the likes of Favela, Quarry and Karachi among others.

There are rumours it could form part of a ‘classic map pack’ – although these are unsubstantiated and must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Terminal would certainly go down well with fans. It offered ample opportunities for those who liked rushing as well as some strategically-positioned spots for snipers.

It also was the setting of the famous No Russian mission – which in the campaign was relatively on the rails, but in multiplayer, it allowed gamers to fully explore the airport in all of its glory.

Whether that was close-quarters gunfights in the airport waiting room, to mid-to-long-range combat outside on the tarmac, Terminal offered something for every kind of gamer – and was big enough to achieve scale whilst not ever feeling empty.

It’s worth stating that this is just a leak, and Activision has not confirmed anything yet. However, we are hopeful that at least some of the popular classic maps make an appearance in this year’s game.

What do we know so far about the Modern Warfare 2 maps?

There are two sorts of map in Modern Warfare 2: Battle Maps & Core Maps.

The former are larger scale, which will see you benefit from mechanics such as swimming, while the Core Maps are smaller and set in different global locations.

There are now 4 confirmed Core maps coming to the game, including Farm 18.

  • Museum: A large map set in Spanish museum
  • Breenbergh Hotel: Close-quarters combat spread across a grand hotel
  • Marina Bay Grand Prix: Inspired by Singapore Grand Prix Marina Bay Street Circuit
  • Farm 18 Training Facility: Taking elements of Shoot house and set in an abandoned cement factory

Here are two Battle Maps confirmed for the upcoming game:

  • Sariff Bay (battle map): Which will allow you to swim in certain areas
  • Sa’id (battle map): Larger scale urban combat

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 on Xbox, PS and PC.
