Remember the Wii Vitality Sensor? Martin talks about it on a daily basis, hoping it’s been given a release date and being disappointed when there’s no new announcement. Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about it; it’s just run into some problems.

According to Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto “development has continued” on the Wii Vitality Sensor, but the device has trouble performing consistently across a variety of situations. The update came during a developer panel at E3.

No software was ever shown for the peripheral, but it was said to be able to detect someone’s pulse.

Miyamoto added that Nintendo will continue to conduct research on sensors and hope to bring something like the Vitality Sensor to market at some point in the future.

Nintendo might not have given much of an update on the Vitality Sensor, but it did announce the Wii U. We have all the info detailed in our Wii U explained article.
