Microsoft is likely to announce its next generation Xbox in April, National Alliance Securities senior research analyst Mike Hickey revealed overnight during Take-Two’s Q3 earnings call Q&A.
“It’s pretty obvious that once the next-gen is announced from Sony, which is likely February 20 and Microsoft probably in April, that all things being equal, even as great as GTA is there’s going to be kind of a natural demand kickback on current-gen software as people save up dollars and excitement for next-gen.” said Hickey when questioning Take-Two on its next generation plans.
Hickey also said: “I’m hearing that the portability of current-gen is going to be a lot easier.”
He used this information to pose the possibility of Rockstar opting for a dual-generation launch for GTA 5 – a topic Take-Two didn’t answer.
