Nintendo of Europe has announced the European release date for Metroid Prime Hunters on the Nintendo DS. The much anticipated DS title will arrive on European store shelves on May 5. Ever since a demo for the game was included with early model DS units, Hunters has been one of the key titles for the platform, and while it was originally set to ship without online play, a much welcomed delay now means it’ll take full advantage of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

Metroid Prime Hunters will be the first game to allow voice communication between players online. You can let opposing players know just what you think of them in pre and post-match game lobbies. Local wireless multiplayer is also possible and takes advantage of the DS’s Single-Card Play. The multiplayer game modes combined with a strong looking single-player campaign suggests that Hunters is a game to look out for this summer.
