Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the greatest video games of all time, let alone arguably the best of the beloved MGS series from Hideo Kojima. There hasn’t been a new game in the series since Kojima’s departure, but we are returning to Tselinoyarsk through a full remake. Gameplay and screenshots all look incredible, and we hope Konami have the sense to add Skull Face to Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta as a way to follow up on the story of The Phantom Pain.

There is no release date for Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta, but it’s believed to now be arriving in 2025. It is a full remake of the original experience with faster controls and massively updated visuals. The remake’s producer has said it “would be a dream” to work with Kojima again, meanwhile, before its launch we could be getting more Metal Gear Solid remasters judging by hints from Konami.

Everything about Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta looks incredible, and Konami have promised they are remaining faithful to the story of the original PS2 experience. While remaining faithful is the right direction, something Konami could do that would be hugely appreciated is add a small cameo from Skull Face.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta should add Skull Face cameo

Metal Gear Solid 3 is the first game in the canon timeline of the MGS series. MGS3 took place in 1964, meanwhile, The Phantom Pain took place 20-years later in 1984.

During The Phantom Pain, it was revealed that the game’s main villain, Skull Face, was the commander of a group called XOF. As the leader of this group, Skull Face cleaned up any mess left behind by Snake while performing Operation Snake Eater.

XOF were formed to be the support team for the FOX unit, and they cleaned up after Snake by removing shell casings and even leaving weapons in places for him to find. Snake got all of the honor and glory, while the XOF unit were silent helpers.

There was no appearance or mention of Skull Face in the original Metal Gear Solid 3 despite The Phantom Pain’s revelation. While it’s obvious Skull Face was conceived as a character within the brain of Kojima long after MGS3, the Phantom Pain’s twist still made sense seeing as XOF were a unit designed to be unseen.

However, although XOF were not meant to be seen, it would be fantastic if Konami at least added a Skull Face cameo in MGS3 Delta. Similar to other games in the series, Konami could implement some hoops players have to jump through to catch even just a glimpse of Skull Face and XOF.

If not a very brief cameo, Konami could add a reference or Easter egg that alludes to the XOF following Snake’s every step. This or a cameo would follow up on the story addition made to MGS3 over a decade later in The Phantom Pain.

In other Metal Gear Solid news, Konami has let it be known they are still searching for their next Kojima.
