If you thought you were a hardcore Baldur’s Gate 3 player, think again. In an effort to spice up the gameplay of Larian Studios’ brilliant RPG one modder has created a new type of difficulty where second chances no longer exist.

While other modders work on custom campaigns or attempt to bring race mods to console, modder Yoonmoonsick has decided to make a new masochistic difficulty mode for the usually quite-pleasant CRPG.

Baldur’s Gate 3 removes second chances

Released on Nexus Mods, the BG3 No Second Chances mod does exactly what it says on the tin. With this mod installed, all rerolls are stripped out of the game, making your first roll your only roll.

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had my rear saved by a reroll, so much so that I have definitely relied too much on the mechanics in Baldur’s Gate 3 saves. However, Yoonmoonsick’s mod “strips away second chances and forces you to live with the results of fate”.

The modder explains that the new “hardcore” mod aims to bring “true tension and consequence in every decision”. If you want to sweat every time you click on a decision and let the dude decide your fate, this mod is for you.

“Players who crave this level of thrill likely have no need for small experience rewards from performing background-appropriate actions,” the modder said.

Honestly, the No Second Chances mod isn’t for me. Unfortunately, I’m not brave enough to not have at least one more throw of that force in BG3. Unlike some people, I require second chances, although, I won’t save scum my way through the game.

If you’re a super hardcore, all for the thrills kinda player, this mod might be for you. If so, good luck to you. I think you’re going to need it.
