2K and Marvel have announced Marvel’s Midnight Suns, a new tactical RPG set in the Marvel universe coming to consoles and PC in March.

Developed by XCOM and Civilization developers Firaxis (as was rumoured just before E3), the game is set to feature an ‘iconic collection’ of Marvel heroes. The setup sees the villainous group Hydra resurrecting the Mother of Demons Lilith in order to fulfil an ancient prophecy. To stop them, The Avengers call upon the help of the titular Midnight Suns made up of Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik and Ghost Rider. Together, they decide to themselves resurrect The Hunter — Lilith’s daughter and the only hero known to have ever defeated her.

As well as the first customisable hero in The Hunter, the game will feature members of The Avengers, the X-Men, the Runaways and more. We’re promised “cinematic tactical combat with a super-hero flair” and an unforgettable adventure on the “darker side” of the Marvel universe.

What we didn’t get to see a lot of was gameplay. That’s because Firaxis and 2K will be showing that off in the game’s own separate presentation, set to take place on Wednesday, September 1 at 7:30pm UK time. For now, you can check out the cinematic reveal trailer for yourself below.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns lands in March 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
