Fortnite and Marvel Avengers Infinity War, easily two of the biggest entertainment properties on the planet right now, are officially crossing over. Yep, Epic Games and Marvel have ignited a bromance that will see purple baddie Thanos rock up in Fortnite's battle royale mode for a limited time event.

Starting today, players will be able to take part in the Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup. This functions like a regular game, whereby 100 players will scrap it out until there's only one left standing. However, the big twist is that you'll be able to transform into the Mad Titan himself by strapping on the Infinity Gauntlet, which packs a mean punch thanks to the six Infinity Stones.

How did this collaboration come about? Well, it turns out that Drake isn't the only famous person to admit to enjoying a spot of Fortnite in their spare time. Joe and Anthony Russo, the co-directors of Infinity War, are also pretty big fans of the game, so decided to have a quick natter with Epic Games' Donald Mustard (awesome name, by the way) about getting a crossover in motion.

'Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,' Joe told Entertainment Weekly. 'And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of Avengers–Fortnite mashup? So we stalked Donald.'

'It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about,' added Mustard.

Thanos is ready to crack some heads in Fornite for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One from today.
