The Xbox Games Showcase has wrapped up and it was one of the best presentations we’ve seen in some time, and especially the best that Microsoft has done in many years. From the likes of Starfield, Indiana Jones, Fable, DOOM, and many others, Xbox was bringing the big guns to this event. Speaking of guns, to conclude the event, Microsoft has officially announced Gears of War E-Day.
In the announcement trailer, we get to see the return of Marcus Fenix as he takes down an enemy in the only way he knows how, by blowing its head off. We then see the two main characters stare out at the destroyed city that they’re in as the trailer fades out.
The trailer only used in-game engine footage, so this indicates that it will be a while before the new Gears of War title is released and is likely still early in development. But, this marks the first new entry in the series since 2019’s Gears 5, which was met with criticism and many felt that the series had died and would just become a memory.
Based on everything we have seen throughout the Xbox Games Showcase event, it may have taken them half a generation, but Microsoft is cooking now and the second half of the Series X’s lifecycle looks to rival the PS5.
Although no release date has been given for Gears of War E-Day, like all first and second-party games, it was confirmed that the game will launch on day one on Xbox Game Pass.
