City Interactive has begun work on Lords of the Fallen 2, executive producer Tomasz Gop has revealed.

News on a sequel was revealed by Gop on Facebook, where he stated that “conceptual work [on] the Lords of the Fallen 2 [is] underway”. He later reiterated the news to Eurogamer, confirming that the team is “now working on vision and concepts for Lords 2”.

Lords of the Fallen was often described by fans as new-gen’s answer to Dark Souls.

But despite shipping 700,000 copies, Gop revealed that the game had only sold 200,000 units within its first 10 days on sale. Nevertheless it was deemed a success, with the game achieving profitability shortly after launch.

A new expansion focussing on puzzle-based gameplay is due to launch this winter.
