A live action web series title Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is to air in the run up to the November 6 release of Halo 4, Microsoft has announced.
According to Variety, the new live action films will be the largest investment Microsoft has made into live action to date, bigger than even those Neill Blomkamp shorts which made us all think a Halo movie would be the best thing ever.
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is an origins story which reveals how Master Chief inspired a young UNSC cadet who would go on to be a leader on the UNSC Infinity Spacecraft.
Halo franchise director Frank O’Connor believes the shorts will help introduce newcomers to Halo “without feeling intimidated”.
The web series will unfold over five 15 minute parts, aired exclusively on Machinima and Halo Wapoint.
Variety also believes the shorts could lead to a Halo motion picture.
