2K has revealed what those who pick up the upcoming racer Lego 2K Drive can look forward to in the months following the game’s launch later this month.

The brick-based racer will include what’s being called a Drive Pass, that’ll make up the game’s post-launch content for the first year after the game arrives. Year One will be made up of four seasons, each including new challenges and, we’re promised, 100 new levels to play. The Drive Pass itself will be available in two forms – with a free track featuring plenty of rewards and a Premium version that’ll be available for purchase for even more content.

While specifics are being saved for now, the free content will include new drivers, new stickers, flairs, sounds and more – as well as an entire new biome to race in, which will be available for free to all players “within the first year” – although exactly when we’re yet to find out. The Premium Drive Pass, meanwhile, will be purchasable per season or you can get the Year 1 Drive Pass that gets you premium access to all four seasons, as well as an Awesome Pizza vehicle and 550 coins to spend in the in-game store. The Premium Pass will also allow you to collect Lego cars based on real-world vehicles, from manufactures such as Dodge, Nissan and more.

Some extra good news comes in the small detail that these Drive Pass seasons apparently don’t have time limits – so if you don’t pick up the game until Season 4 launches in Spring 24, for example, you’ll still be able to play and earn Season 1, 2 and 3’s content at your leisure and earn those rewards too. Season 1 is expected to land in June 2023, Season 2 will follow in Fall 2023, Season 3 in Winter of 2023 and as previously mentioned, Season 4 will drop in Winter 2024.

The Year 1 Drive Pass is available as part of the Lego 2K Drive Awesome Edition or the Awesome Rivals Edition, or it’ll be available for purchase separately on launch. Lego 2K Drive launches on May 19, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
