The Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess release date is Friday, July 19 2024. Capcom shared information about this game earlier in 2024, but the release date reveal came in June, during the Xbox Games Showcase over the Summer Game Fest weekend. A trailer was shown, demonstrating the gameplay and what we can expect when it launches.
Kunitsu-Gami Path of the Goddess gameplay details
Capcom is billing this single-player game as a strategy game. In Path of the Goddess, your character performs dance-like sword movements to attack, all the while commanding villagers to help you in battle against otherworldly foes. Essentially, it is a tower defence game in a lot of ways. The game takes place on a mountain and it is split between a day and night cycle. In the daytime, you must purify the villages and get ready for the monsters, who will descend on your villages when it gets dark.
During night time, you must protect the Maiden against these enemies, who are known as the Seethe. This day and night cycle repeats until you have cleared the entire mountain of the Seethe. The game is entirely and directly inspired by Japan, offering a taste of Japanese culture. Another main goal of yours is to protect the Maiden at all costs. To do this, your main character, Soh, must use their sword in combat. Soh can fight enemies with their dance-like sword attacks, and he can enlist the help of villagers. You must decide where to use these villagers and choose the best placement for the right person to give you the upper hand in these strategic battles.
