The future of Nu Image/Millennium and Lionsgate’s Kane & Lynch movie, based on Square Enix’s criminal action franchise, is in doubt following the departure of director Patrick Alessandrin (District 13: Ultimatum).

According to LA Times movie blog 24 Frames, shooting for the project was expected to start next month, but Alessandrin’s departure means production is unlikely to begin before the year end.

It’s now believed that Running Scared helmer Wayne Kramer and Italian Job director F. Gary Gray, each previously linked to the project, are now back in the mix. Antoine Fuqua, who worked with Millennium on crime drama Brooklyn’s Finest, is also in the hat.

Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx remain on board to play the title roles.
