The Helldivers 2 community recently unlocked the Commando Rocket Launcher by successfully defending X-45 from the Automatons. So far, the Commando, based on the iconic Rocket Launcher from the 1985 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, has been a huge hit with players. But, as with any new weapon, players are worried that Arrowhead Game Studios could nerf it.

U/Fil-is-Theo took to Reddit to plead with the developers not to touch the Commando Rocket Launcher, with them saying that it doesn’t need to be buffed or nerfed. “Arrowhead has many times stated, the Autocannon is the golden standard for balanced weapons/stratagems, then I think that with the Commando it gained a little brother,” they said.

“It’s the middle ground between the EAT and the Spear. This is a good thing because having something that can cover that niche gives more flavor to the game and to the loadout options. Also, it’s REALLY fun to use.”

When it comes to its ideal use case, it is definitely against the Automatons. Terminid players have numerous weapons to use, whereas very few prove to be successful against the robot army. “I think it’s about time bot players got an “overpowered” weapon to deal with them.”

The users also noted that “This is where the Commando truly shines: being able to destroy fabricators from any angle while having 4 shots at the ready means that a good player can potentially destroy a heavy base all by themselves.” It is also effective against many of the enemies, with it being able to “kill turrets in 2 shots and Tanks in 3.”

“Using it against Devastators it’s also really useful, especially one-shotting the rocket ones, but if you hit the shield of the heavy Devastator you risk not even damaging it. Factory Striders are a huge pain, but you can at least destroy the top turret or punch a hole in its side.”

It is not often that a weapon is better suited for the Automatons, so it is great to see Helldivers 2 players who prefer to fight the bots finally get a useful weapon to do so.
