The critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 remains one of the most significant titles of all time even after its initial launch 18 years ago. Though most of its current relevance is due to Capcom’s equally praised remake, the features, mechanics, and story line that the original presented during its release is what primarily kept it in the public eye during all these years.

With this in mind, retro enthusiasts may be wondering if the classic RE4 entry is available on modern day consoles like the PS5. If this is a question that you’ve recently had in mind, then you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s all that we know about the original Resident Evil 4’s playability on the PS5.

Can you play the original Resident Evil 4 on the PS5?

Sadly, the original Resident Evil 4 is not available on the PS5 as the remake has already been released on Sony’s current generation platform. If you want to play through the magic of the classic Capcom entry, you will only be able to do so through past gen systems like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Keep in mind, though, that the version on PS4 and Xbox One already have a large number of enhancements included. This means that if you want to experience how the original was like back when it was first launched, then you’d have to get it on either the Gamecube, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, or the Xbox 360.

It’s currently unclear whether Capcom plans on porting the previous Resident Evil 4 title to the PS5 after the remake has been launched. They may eventually do so, seeing as how it still has a decent following to this day. For now, though, we recommend finishing the remake instead so that you can at least temporarily quench your classic zombie horror thirst.
