With the launch of Overwatch 2 this week, many PC fans are wondering where they’ll be able to get their hands on the free-to-play sequel.

The hero shooter arrives on October 4 – but with fellow Activision title Call of Duty returning to Steam with Modern Warfare 2, could the same be said for the Overwatch sequel? And what about the Epic Game Store?

Is Overwatch 2 on Steam?

Alas, at the time of writing it seems Overwatch 2 will not release on Steam. There don’t seem to be any plans – at least announced ones – to officially bring it there either any time soon.

Overwatch 2 – at launch, at least – will be exclusive to the Battle.net client on PC. That’s Blizzard’s own launcher – and you’ll require a Battle.net account – with a phone number attached – to even play too.

Is Overwatch 2 on the Epic Game Store?

As you’ve no doubt guessed, it’s the same story here too. Overwatch 2 will not be available on the Epic Game Store either.

Given Call of Duty is finally returning to Steam following it’s absence since 2017’s CoD: WWII, it’s possible that Overwatch 2 may come to other PC storefronts in the future.

Until an official announcement, however, it’ll remain a Battle.net exclusive for now.

As a reminder, Overwatch 2 will also be getting a season pass when it moves into free-to-play. It’s through this pass you can earn new cosmetics and even new heroes like Kiriko. You can find out more on what’s on offer in the Overwatch 2 Season 1 Battle Pass over here.

Overwatch 2 releases on PC from tomorrow, October 4 – and you can find out the exact time in your region – and preload information if you already own the first game on PC – over here.
