Krafton’s The Sims competitor inZOI released to huge success, giving players a brand-new life simulator sandbox to toy around with. While the game is far from done—as evidenced by its lengthy 2025 roadmap—the title’s early access launch success has filled the game’s development team with joy.
Speaking to VideoGamer just after launch, inZOI director, producer and CEO Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim explained that they are “filled with gratitude” over the game’s response. While there have been issues—such as a bug that allowed players to run over children—the team is incredibly happy with the response so far.

In our post-launch catch-up, we asked Kim how it felt to see the game’s success after years of internal development. With many more years of support planned for the title, the game’s initial reactions were paramount, and the fanbase has not disappointed.
“I’m spending my days filled with gratitude for the player response, which has been far stronger than expected,” the inZOI director said. “I see our players as more than just consumers—they are all part of ‘one team’, walking alongside us toward a shared vision. Their support and trust are the greatest driving forces that keep our development team going.”
“I’d like to take this opportunity to once again express my heartfelt thanks to all the players who love and support inZOI.”

One of the reasons behind launching inZOI in early access was to allow players to help shape the future of the life simulator. With thousands upon thousands of pages of feedback given to the developers since launch, the team is growing alongside the game.
“We’re learning something new every day through the feedback we receive, and this journey of developing inZOI has been a series of new challenges and lessons—so much so that it has humbled the 24 years of experience I’ve built,” the game director told us.
With inZOI, the team are adapting a lot of modern ideas and emerging technologies in a way that many game developers have yet to try. There’s a focus on ray-tracing and controversial AI features, which offers a unique challenge compared to Kim’s decades of working on more traditional games.
“As game development evolves every year, the process of creating inZOI has been an incredibly fascinating and continuous cycle of challenges and lessons,” the game director told VideoGamer. “I’d like to take this opportunity to once again express my heartfelt thanks to all the players who love and support inZOI.”
In the future, inZOI is planning to add a tonne of new and exciting features, including pets and the ability to adopt family members. While the new life simulator might be rather barebones at the moment, there’s a lot of work being done to quickly expand the game.
