A brand new reveal trailer has landed for upcoming FPS Immortals of Aveum, and announcing that the game will be aiming for a July release date.

The game was first teased during The Game Awards in 2022, but that showing only gave us a first-person flavour teaser of what to expect. Now, with the latest trailer, we get an idea of what to expect from the game, who’s development team has an impressive pedigree despite it being their debut game as Ascendant Studios. The team boasts staff who’ve previously worked on games like Dead Space, Call of Duty and Bioshock 2.

Immortals of Aveum is melding fantasy with sci-fi throughout, with a grand story involving five kingdoms fought over by two factions – Lucium and Rasharn. You’ll be playing as Jak, a member of the former, who gets caught in the middle of their ever-ongoing war for control of magic when he unexpectedly starts developing magic powers.

As a result, Jak is swiftly recruited into the titular Immortals – an elite fighting force of Lucium’s most skilled magical warriors, and the first line of defence against the Rasham armies. Quite handily for him (and for you controlling him) he also happens to be the rarest kind of spellcaster who can wield all three of this world’s kinds of magic.

You’ll use these three types – red for powerful blasts, blue for long range shots and green for rapid fire, as well as the ability to conjure things like shields and manipulate the environment as you blast your way through the game. Jak will also have access to an ultimate spell that will allow you to ‘raze your enemies to the ground’.

There’s a few months left to wait for this game, but we’re sure to hear more about it closer to Immortals of Aveum’s release date when it launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC on July 23, 2023.
