A new Baldur’s Gate 3 mod adds a new level of worry to the brilliant RPG as players now have to deal with a pandemic spreading across the Sword Coast. While early access versions of BG3 helped to save many players’ mental health during the last real-world pandemic, players can now re-experience the stress of 2020 in Larian’s fantastic game.

Baldur’s Gate 3 pandemic mod

Released on Nexus Mods by modder JimmSlimm, a “RAGE Virus” has been unleashed across the Sword Coast. While some mods bring back cut content, add functional pokeballs to the game or allow you to play the game in first-person, this mod adds a tonne of tension to the RPG.

The RAGE Virus spreads across the population of BG3’s world, infecting enemies and NPCs with a Hulk-like anger. Once infected, a victim becomes stronger and faster than ever before. Furthermore, infected characters become extremely aggressive to nearby entities, resulting in huge fights in populated areas.

Every character in Baldur’s Gate 3 has a percentage chance to be immune to the virtual pandemic, a chance that can be altered via an item found in The Nautiloid. Once an infected character sees another character within 50 meters of an uninfected victim, the infection will spread. The saving roll is hidden from players for added fun.

A Halloween treat

As modder JimSlimm points out, playing through this Baldur’s Gate 3 pandemic mod is the perfect fit for Halloween. If you’re looking to re-experience the massive stress of a worldwide pandemic that requires a tad of social distancing, this is the Halloween mod for you.
